Eric Koston x Oakley Craftsman Series Frogskins – A First Look

Oakley skateboarding team rider Eric Koston has worked on a new pair of sunglasses with the eyewear giant and here is a first look at them. Oakley has been known over the years for the occasional “hyperstrike” like releases. The term “hyperstrike” refers to what Nike used to do back in the day where they would drop sneakers in extremely limited numbers which resulted in hysteria amongst sneakerheads, but in Oakley’s case there’s been drops made strictly for gifting for select folks globally. I have a personal and working history with Oakley stemming from numerous relationships within the brand, so I work on seeding such sunglasses. A box of the goods were sent here to the Coldsmoke office, so we shot these photos to share them. Limited to only a couple hundred pairs, these new shades feature a black and pink colorway that may appear to have been inspired by WWE legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart, but in actuality, they were inspired by a color of his newly released sneakers from a certain sportswear powerhouse. This pair is from the new Craftsman series of sunglasses from Oakley. Pairs from the series have received a distressed look, which works very well here as it sort of mutes the pink a bit. These limited edition sunnies also come with a matching cloth bag bearing Eric’s “EK’ logo.
